Proper tense use is the keystone to good English, however when speaking this extremely difficult to do. Even the best students occasionally forget the 's' in third person singular of the present simple. Consequently you need to learn the tenses as you would your times tables, it must be an automatic response not something you have to think about. To achieve this a great deal of study is necessary.

In this section you will find all the tenses in English language with explanations, videos and exercises. All the videos in this series have been listed on the right hand side of this page. When clicked it will take you to explanations, videos and exercises on that subject.

The English language defines tenses through use of auxiliaries. Do/does for present simple, am/are/is for present continuous, will for future, would for conditional and so on... Being able to use these correctly without hesitation should be one of your objectives. Furthermore good use of tenses requires the learning of the irregular verbs, an additional difficulty.
